Gabriele Saito was born in 1984 in Palermo, Italy. Strongly interested in the development of technologies and materials for drug delivery, he is very curious and enthusiastic about researching in nanotechnology field applied to human health. He holds a MSc in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology from University of Palermo (Italy), with the thesis completed at the Institute of Nanostructured Materials - National Research Council of Palermo (Italy) entitled 'Solid lipid nanoparticles as carrier of Flurbiprofen in the Central Nervous System for the treatment of Alzheimer disease’ (2011). During that period he has got some experience in formulation, HPLC, UV-vis, FT-IR and biological and toxicological assays for nanoparticles.

He joined Dr Marina Resmini’s research group in May 2012 at the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences - Queen Mary, University of London where he started his PhD focusing on smart self-assembled amphiphilic block co-polymers useful for drug delivery for the skin. He is employed as an Early Stage Researcher within the Marie-Curie Initial Training Network NANODRUG and his work ranges among organic chemistry, polymer chemistrynanomaterials characterization and toxicity.

In his spare time Gabriele likes hanging out with friends, photography, music, doing open air sports, travelling and read about science and geography.
